The center is based on the idea of intersecting educational and recreational use. This parti illustrates the concept, showing forms intersected by pathways, shaped to the contours of the site
Materials were chosen based on the idea of water conservation in Utah.
The Utahn relationship to water is one of scarcity. Materials that look scorched, dry, and like they need water were
chosen to invoke this relationship. Corten steel, and rusted gabion cages give a scorched look. Along with cedar planks, using the Yakisugi technique.
These materials communicate the aridity of the surrounding canyon.
