The projects from my academic career required physical models at many different scales, with various purposes.
This is a model of an existing commercial building housing a Little Caesar's. The purpose of the model was to show granular detail of building materials, structure and layout.
This is a model of the City Creek Canyon Water Education Center. The larger scale shows topographic interaction, critical to the project's design. The entire model was then burnt to highlight the chosen scorched aesthetic of the project.
Olympus Tower required a model with unique challenges owing to the use of several uncooperative materials. Each material required unique fabrication methods from completely digital design in the case of 3D printed parts, by-hand construction of laser cut parts, a cast concrete base, and aluminum sheet metal pieces assembled by hand, and cut by template.
The model for the new Japanese Church of Christ was designed for simplicity. Form and material tectonics are highlighted by this model.
The Slides is a building which I designed with highly curved, non developable surfaces. This required the use of a 3D printer. The model was constructed of a dozen separate pieces, fused together using heat.
